National Tutoring Programme

Subsidised access to QTS tutors with Fledge, an NTP Tuition Partner

As qualified and experienced classroom teachers, Fledge tutors recognise the importance of understanding students’ starting points when cultivating potential. We work in partnership with your school as we believe a collaborative approach to embedding learning is key: we view ourselves as an extension of your classroom and your school, working closely together to improve student confidence and assessment outcomes for all of our students.

What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The National Tutoring Programme (NTP) is a government-funded initiative that aims to make high-quality tutoring available to schools, at a heavily subsidised rate, to help disadvantaged pupils whose education has been affected by school closures.

Why schools should consider the NTP

Through the NTP schools have access to subsidised 1:1 and small group tuition programmes with quality assured Tuition Partners. Tuition programmes through the NTP:

- Attract a 60% subsidy

- Cover KS1 to KS4 E/M/S, Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages

- Are delivered under robust Safeguarding criteria

Why chose Fledge as your Tuition Partner?

NTP details for 2022/2023

From 2022/23 The National Tutoring Programme becomes much simpler

Schools will receive £162 per pupil premium eligible pupil. (Specialist schools will receive £423)

The grant provided is expected to cover 60% of the average cost of tutoring, based on a 15-hour package and the tuition company charging an average of £18 per hour per pupil for mainstream and £47 for specialist schools.

These are:

£18 for mainstream schools, of which the DfE subsidy will be £10.80 (60%) £47 for specialist settings, of which the DfE subsidy will be £28.20 (60%) Based on a 15 hour package, we will provide the following funding for NTP:

You can use this information to work out your indicative allocation for the academic year 2022 to 2023, by taking the number of pupils eligible for pupil premium in your school this year and multiplying it by the relevant funding rate. DfE will publish school-level allocations in full later in the summer term.

Schools have the flexibility to manage their own allocation and pay above or below this figure, where necessary, but in all cases will need to contribute a minimum of 40% of the cost using core funding, pupil premium funding or any other appropriate funding source (excluding recovery premium).

How it works - raising attainment, reducing admin

Our process is designed to be as streamlined as possible.

  1. We call you to fully understand your needs

  2. You identify the students, the subjects they need tuition in, and we agree a schedule

  3. You allocate your NTP programme to us via the NTP platform

  4. We deliver tuition using our online classroom (we can even provide internet access and/or laptops if required)

  5. You pay just 30% of the tuition price and we claim the balance from NTP

  6. We provide reports and the paperwork you need to evidence Pupil Premium spending

We will do whatever we can to make the process as straightforward as possible for you, for example, we provide GDPR-compliant consent forms to send to parents, manage and maintain any technology we provide, etc.

About Fledge

We launched Fledge to increase access to high quality tuition and to help close the education attainment gap. We have been working with schools since launching and developed programmes that are sympathetic to the busy school environment whilst delivering fantastic results. In 2020-21 we supported schools in achieving a 400% increase in the number of students reaching end of year goals. But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what one of our recent school clients had to say:

"Fledge has been outstanding in helping support some of our most vulnerable pupils with their learning - especially during the lockdown period. Throughout the programme the learning was well structured and engaging and the tutors incredibly professional. Communication with the school and individual families have been excellent and concerns and issues followed up promptly. I would highly recommend Fledge to any prospective school”

Shall we take it further?
